Award-winning international performer, dancer, director and teacher. Karavan began a successful career on TV at the age of 13, later travelling through Europe, Russia, Brazil and Japan, studying and working with numerous masters in search of an authentic training method and a contemporary physical language linking East and West, theatre and dance. Using elements of Butoh, dance, mime, clowning, object theatre, buffoon, physical and visual theatre, she explores themes of memory, metamorphosis and the notion of repetitive cycles, interweaving dreamlike atmospheres with a humorous edge, balancing on the fine line between the tragic and the comic, the intimate and the collective. Throughout her career she has created numerous projects for the stage, outdoors and for museums and galleries worldwide. Since 1999 she has been teaching in universities around the world.
Artista internacionalmente premiada, bailarina, encenadora e professora, Karavan iniciou uma carreira na televisão aos 13 anos. Depois viajou pela Europa, Rússia, Brasil e Japão, estudando e trabalhando com inúmeros mestres em busca de um método de formação e de uma linguagem física contemporânea de expressão que ligasse o Oriente e o Ocidente, o teatro e a dança. Utilizando elementos de Butoh, dança, mímica, clown, teatro de objetos, bufão, teatro físico e visual, explora temas de memória, metamorfose e a noção de ciclos repetitivos, entrelaçando atmosferas oníricas com senso de humor, equilibrando-se na linha ténue entre o trágico e o cómico, o íntimo e o coletivo. Karavan explora linguagens artísticas que combinam diversas influências culturais, procurando formas de agir e reagir às questões sociopolíticas. Ao longo da sua carreira criou inúmeros projetos para o palco, ao ar livre e para museus e galerias. Desde 1999 leciona em universidades ao redor do mundo.
